Lakers Player Andrew Bynum Busted for Speeding

California’s beloved basketball team LA Lakers may be the reigning NBA champ but even athletes adored by the public are not exempt from the rules of the road.

One of its players, Lakers center Andrew Bynum may be laid up with a bum right knee but his injury is not enough to slow him down…or at least, him and his customized 2010 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.

According to the authorities, on October 29, the basketball star was driving too fast in an L.A. freeway which had a speed limit was set at 55 MPH. The police clocked Bynum going as fast as 110 MPH and pulled him over.

Although the star could have been charged with reckless driving, the cops ticketed him instead. Allegedly, while Bynum may have been driving too fast, he wasn’t weaving in and out of lanes and traffic was light.

Aside from being lucky enough to evade probable jail time, the star was lucky enough to avoid getting into an accident. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), speeding is a factor in about one-third of all fatal motor vehicle accidents, killing more than 1,000 Americans every month.

A high performance engine such as a Ferrari may be built for speed but sometimes, speed is what sends most drivers earlier to their graves.
