Underinflated Tires to Blame for 2008 Plane Crash of Travis Barker and DJ AM

Here is an update on the 2008 Learjet crash which seriously injured Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity disc jockey DJ AM and killed four people.

According to National Transportation Safety Board officials, it was the plane’s underinflated tires caused the crash. The tires exploded and damaged the plane’s hydraulic system which in turn caused the plane’s brakes to fail.

Although settlements has been reached with the plane crash survivors and decedents which was split between Global Exec Aviation, ITAS Inc., which owned the plane, Learjet Inc. and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co, the authorities now pin the blame on Global for failing to maintain the plane’s tires.

The findings of the NTSB are rather ironic since following the settlement, Global Exec and ITAS have filed their own lawsuit against the plane’s manufacturers, Learjet and Bombardier.
