Notable Celebrities Who Were Involved in Recent Road Accidents

Car crashes are everyday occurrences. Though they are avoidable, many individuals get involved in such instances, resulting in non-injuries, injuries, and deaths. Oftentimes, we hear or read news reports over TV or the Internet about these incidents involving regular motorists, as well as passengers and pedestrians. However, at some point, we also get to learn about other notable personalities who also get involved in road accidents. Indeed, celebrities can afford fancy cars, but they don’t turn out pretty well sometimes, especially when mishaps occur. When they are figured in a crash or any related incident on the road as either a driver or a passenger, it is always expected that they will come up on the news.

When it comes to car crashes involving key Hollywood celebrities, we think of the recent untimely deaths of Paul Walker of the Fast and the Furious movie franchise, as well as MTV Jackass’s Ryan Dunn. Who could ever forget the sudden demise of then-24-year-old James Dean in the 50s? Also, some others either escaped unharmed or sustained injuries; nonetheless, their stories served as updates to their ongoing celebrity status. These include Lindsay Lohan, Rowan Atkinson, and Eddie Griffin, among other personalities.

Over the last one or two years up to recently, numerous road accidents involving celebrities occurred. Let’s take a look at some of them:

  • Jennifer Lopez. One of the most renowned performer and actresses, Lopez was involved in a car crash last September 2014. She and her 6-year-old twins Max and Emme were seated at the back of her new SUV being driven by actress Leah Remini when the accident happened around 8 p.m. along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California. Police reports revealed that a small pickup truck, being driven by a man who was found to be under the influence of alcohol, rear-ended the SUV. Fortunately, no one inside the SUV was injured. It was only recently that the drunk driver was sentenced to three years of probation after he pled no contest.
  • Gary Busey. The Hollywood actor known for his roles in such films as Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Point Break, and Under Siege and the winner of the British version of Big Brother reportedly struck and injured a pedestrian while he was backing his vehicle in a parking lot of a grocery store on, again, the Pacific Coast Highway February this year. The woman only sustained minor injuries. He wasn’t immediately cited because no alcohol or drugs were involved.
  • Tracy Morgan. The comedian was among the critical injured passengers in the limo bus accident that occurred June of last year in New Jersey. The limo bus, which was carrying him and six others, was among the six vehicles that were involved in the accident, which also included two tractor-trailers and an SUV. James McNair, one of Morgan’s writers, died at the scene, while two others, comedian Ardie Fuqua, Jr. and Jeffrey Millea, one of Morgan’s assistants, were likewise in critical condition as Morgan. He is still undergoing recovery from the several fractures and the traumatic brain injury he sustained because of the crash. Recently, Walmart, in which one of its trucks was involved in the crash, recently provided the family of the deceased McNair a $10 million payout in damages.
