Former Big Brother Housemate Arrested for Fatal Drunken Crash

From Big Brother’s house to the jail house, tsk, tsk, tsk.

Tonya Paoni now Tonya Casper, a former housemate of Big Brother 3, was recently arrested following a lengthy investigation of a multi-vehicle crash last July 17, 2009 which killed two people.

Casper, a 43-year-old retail sales specialist, was charged with aggravated DUI, reckless homicide, reckless driving, and speeding.

According to the police, she was under the influence of alcohol while driving down Interstate 72 when her Toyota Corolla rear-ended a Ford Explorer SUV. The SUV crashed against the highway median and rolled over several times. One of the SUV’s passengers was killed when he was ejected from the vehicle.

Eric Finneran, another passenger of the SUV was killed when he was hit by a passing car which swerved to avoid another collision between two other vehicles which crashed while trying to avoid the accident scene.

Casper is currently awaiting trial on July 19 and is behind bars in Sangamon County Jail where she is held on a $1 million bond or $100,000 cash bail.
Statistics show that every 45 minutes, 1 person is killed by a drunk driver. Drunk driving is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle fatalities, so it is important to report any suspicious looking drunk driver or if you yourself or a friend are going to drive after a few drinks, to call for a cab instead.
